Giving back to the Himalayan nomads

kora was founded with the aim of supporting the communities of the Kegawa Herders' Cooperative, by buying their yak wool directly to create our layers.

A collective of more than 90 families in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, our friends live all year around at 4,500m.

We buy this wool at a set mid-market rate throughout the buying season in order to offer price certainty, and in addition we pay a 10% stipend.

New Favorite base layer

Fabric is thin and light, warm for the thickness, and stretchy; the wool is not baby soft, and stimulates the skin; if you like wool then it's a plus; otherwise, yeah I have a friend who wears cotton only; I washed the shirt and it dried quicker than my 100% Merino base from woolx and from Ibex; I like Kora fabric for fast wicking and drying. The fit is tight, like a glove, but the strectch is adequate. Neck and wrist stitching is sized smaller than garment; I heard fabric tearing my first time getting it over my big head (I bought a medium and I am 140lb slim 5 ft 10 inches tall, 38 chest); the neck, while I heard it tearing to open for my head, showed no obvious signs of tearing; the sound was the equal tension and not individual fibers; I wasn't happy at first, but am used to it from my weird head to chest size. I have thin arms, and the shirt is fine across my shoulders to the wrist; at the wrist, the cuff is very tight, but comfortable due to stretch. The lenght of the body of the shirt is very long, allowing the sirt to tuck in nicely; it covers my entire private area when I hold it down, so it fits like a skirt; which I appreciate, as most of my base layers aren't long enough in the torso.
Anyway, it's pricey for my budget; otherwise I would buy everything Kora sells, just to try it on; and especially for those friends who appreciate wool layering.

I purchased this item in 2 different colors along with the YUSHU BASELAYER BOTTOMS
These are perfect for when I’m physically moving in 0-10 degrees ( F) and 10 MPH winds From my experience I love these.
They are slightly itchy on the first wear but afterwards extremely comfortable. Super lightweight, moisture wicking, easy to pack, easy to care for washing, drying etc. you won’t regret it. Super great fit.
I don’t even feel cold after working out in these.
I wear a polyester windproof jacket over this shirt and I’m good to go.
Shipping takes about 2 weeks to Chicago, IL

Kora baselayer

The baselayer is warm comfortable and worth the money. The quality is top notch and stylish. My only issue was how slow the shipping was. The time it takes to get the product is not within a normal shipping time amount. Order it 3 months early if you want it for any specific activity. That my only complaint. .

Wear both the top and bottom pieces together, both crafted extremely well. I don’t know how they keep me warm but it’s amazing.
