New Men's Shola 230 Crew
The yak wool’s warmth and ability to endure day-after-day wear with fluctuating temperatures makes it a must. It also remains a fabric that is my base layer on most days just ‘living’ here in Shangri-La.
OUR UNIQUE YAK WOOL FABRICS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The Hima-Layer Difference
Yaks live comfortably at 16,000 feet in the freezing-cold Himalayas—kept warm by their natural coat of wool. The secret to yak wool’s incredible warmth-for-weight is that the fibre is hollow, trapping more air next to the body. This is why Kora’s Hima-Layer Original 230 fabric is warmer, weight-for-weight, than traditional merino fabrics - up to 40% warmer. Move aside, Sheep.
Yak wool is softer than soft—making it the ideal baselayer and midlayer material. Aside from our unique performance fabrics, yak wool more frequently used as an alternative to cashmere. Whether you’re embarking on a long, challenging day in the mountains, cruising the streets, or lounging at home, Kora’s Hima-Layer fabrics offer supreme comfort.
Tested in a fresh head-on NE wind with snow flurries on the South Downs of England over two days. Wonderfully warm. soft and comfortable next to the skin. Also Stayed fresh when I warmed up going up hill. .
Received the Shola Crew as promised and have been wearing it both in town and for my walks. Well made with and like seam placement. So far so good- happy with thermatic properties. Looking forward to continued .
Congratulations. Excellent product.
I bought these because of memories of base layers from my childhood. Wool was itchy, and my skin doesn't react well to synthetics. I just received them, and I am amazed at the fit and feel of the garments. They aren't itchy, and didn't react to my skin, - they are airy enough to wear comfortably at 75 degrees. The top is snazzy enough to wear as a sweater. The fabric feels a lot like cashmere, and is a lot cheaper than cashmere would cost (if anyone offers cashmere base layers). They are light and thin enough to wear under clothing comfortably, and without restriction. As they are wool, I probably won't need any more than one washing per week, so I don't need 5+ pairs, and it represents a savings over several cotton base or silk, which is too fragile.. I am very pleased with this product, and would reccomend them to anyone.
Recently bought the Shola Crew for a hiking trip in Norway, and it was about the only layer I needed except for my rain jacket. When the first day hit us with an exhausting climb in heavy rain, the Shola Crew kept me warm even though I soaked it in sweat and there was no chance for my jacket to breathe. All in all, it kept its promise 100% and will allow me to cut back on clothing on the next trip.
